Dental hygiene is a big problem in least developed countries. Many communities, especially rural, suffer from poor dental education and insufficient access to proper dental care.
It is estimated that 50 million hours of school have been missed globally, per year, due to poor oral health. The evidence is clear: poor dental hygiene is an impediment to further education, which further harms students’ aspirations for high-paying careers.
Studies have been conducted in many countries, which have tested and implemented dental hygiene programs; the result shows that appropriate education and provision of oral hygiene equipment fosters improvement of health exponentially. This shows that this problem can be fixed cross-culturally – with simple steps and small, accruing gains.
With your pound, your spare buck, we will make it our mission to eliminate this by first focusing on children between 6-10 years of age. We will hand out toothbrushes and toothpaste to communities in order provide them with what is necessary to keep their teeth clean. What is more is that your money will also be invested in their dental education.
We believe that this layered approach will help drive down cases of poor dental health, especially in children. It will be with your charity that we can create a healthier society, starting with a healthier body.
